Uber Eats: The Gourmet Sandwich Studio

The Challenge

In today’s always-on work culture, lunch breaks have become an afterthought. Research commissioned by Uber Eats revealed that a staggering number of office workers regularly skip their lunch break or resort to eating hunched over their desks, tethered to their screens. Uber Eats’ latest campaign, “When You’ve Done Enough”, aimed to challenge this mindset, encouraging workers to reclaim their right to take a proper break and enjoy a satisfying meal away from their desks. The challenge for us was to transform this campaign message into a tangible, real-world experience that would resonate with busy London professionals and inspire them to pause, indulge, and reset — even if just for lunch.

The Solution

Our creative response was to design an unmissable live activation that would physically pull office workers out of their routines and into a memorable food moment. The result was the Uber Eats Sandwich Studio: a giant, visually striking Uber Eats pop-up bag, located in the bustling heart of London, housing a gourmet sandwich shop unlike any other. This was built in our workshop from the ground up, and

We worked alongside the award-winning chefs from the Fallow Restaurant group to reinvent the iconic British meal deal. Visitors could choose from an exclusive menu of elevated sandwiches, paired with freshly made artisanal crisps and craft sodas, offering a lunch break experience that was both nostalgic and indulgently new. The activation wasn’t just about premium food; it was about giving people permission to step away from their screens, savour a moment of pause, and enjoy a curated lunch experience in a setting that felt special and considered.

To align with Uber Eats’ broader community values, we ensured all proceeds from the Sandwich Studio went to City Harvest, Uber Eats’ long-standing charity partner dedicated to fighting food waste and hunger in London.

The Impact

What was intended as a three-hour lunchtime activation turned into a rapid sell-out success, with all available sandwiches claimed in under an hour – a testament to the campaign’s resonance and the public’s appetite for reclaiming their lunch breaks. The pop-up created significant buzz on social media and in the press, amplifying Uber Eats’ “When You’ve Done Enough” message far beyond the event itself.

For the office workers who attended, it wasn’t just about the food; it was a meaningful reminder of the value of taking a proper break, something they could carry back into their daily lives.

Beyond audience engagement, the activation also contributed to a greater cause by supporting City Harvest’s vital work, making every sandwich sold a small but impactful step towards combating food waste and hunger in the city.
