HP x The Omen Challenge

Challenge

For the return of the incredible, live gaming event of HP’s annual tournament, The Omen Challenge, we were tasked with designing an innovative and tech forward immersive experience to engage the world’s best gamers and athletes.

Solution

Using a bespoke CS:GO map, boundaries between gameplay and reality were blurred. Using AR and Mixed Reality, players stepped live into the game to give unparalleled insight as to how they played and won their matches.

The centrepiece of the whole experience was the impressive battle arena with its changeable LED floor, allowing light and sound teams to use visuals innovatively during the event. The arena was flanked by equally impressive, chevron-lit gamer and commentator desks and carefully planned tiered audience areas, keeping the event intimate and immersive.  The star of the show was the amazing fully customised light tunnel. Laser-cut, precision-folded steel archways, with self-contained and self-supporting lightboxes pulsated through the brand palette. The lights were individually customised using custom pixel mapping software, giving us complete control. The dramatic, geometrically-precise shape served as a compelling photo-magnet and became quite the focus for press and players!

Impact

The whole tournament was streamed live on Twitch and was HP Omen’s most successful event, with 3.2 million viewers and over 23 million minutes watched!
